John Parikhal – Bio
John Parikhal is considered a global leader in media strategy, marketing. research and consumer trends.
For over 30 years, as CEO of media strategy company, Joint Communications Corporation, he helped a distinguished roster of clients to achieve remarkable success.
A small sample includes Turner Broadcasting, Real Simple Magazine, MTV, VH1, XM Radio, Rolling Stone Magazine, Pepsi, Wendy’s, Peoples Bank, S.C. Johnson, Molson, Caracol, CBS, NBC, ABC, Time Warner, Radio One, major record companies and radio stations in the United States, Canada and around the world.
His specialty is ‘smart’ research, trend watching and a deep working knowledge of media and customer needs. He applies these skills to help clients strengthen strategy, marketing and growth.
In addition to his consulting and research work, John authored a book about The Baby Boom, created a hit TV show for NBC television and wrote a radio series titled “Coping With” that ran on network radio for 5 years.
Widely recognized as a practical futurist (he earned his Master’s Degree under media guru Marshall McLuhan), John helps companies become more successful by navigating the colossal change that is turning the media and marketing ‘rules’ of the past 60 years upside down.

Taran Swan – Bio
Taran Swan is a global media & entertainment expert who has worked with market leaders Disney, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network over a 20-year media & entertainment career.
She held senior executive P&L positions internationally at Viacom (MTV Networks/ Nickelodeon). As an Executive Vice President of Nickelodeon, Taran served on Nickelodeon’s Executive Committee and ran Nickelodeon’s New Media group.
Prior to that, she launched Nickelodeon channels in Europe and later ran Nickelodeon Latin America, an experience that was chronicled in the Harvard Business School case study, Taran Swan at Nickelodeon Latin America.
Taran first formed her own consulting business in 2002, and has focused on leveraging her experience heading up media & entertainment businesses to work with companies across a broad array of opportunities and challenges.
Her work has focused on developing new business and digital strategies for a successful roster of companies including Cartoon Network, Time Inc. (Women’s Lifestyle Group), Time Warner Corporate and Internet start-ups. Past projects include advising on Internet strategies, digital ad sales growth, programming and content strategies, and most recently developing ‘green’ initiatives.
Taran has served on the boards of a venture capital fund and an early-stage multicultural multimedia business backed by Goldman, Sachs & Co.
She received her undergraduate computer science degree from the University of California, Berkeley, attended NYU’s Courant Graduate School of Mathematics as a Bell Laboratories Fellow, and received her MBA from the Harvard Business School.
